[00:00:05] Hey guys, it’s Travis at
[00:00:08] gaspumpheaven.com. Well, we’re finally
[00:00:09] starting our restoration project. And
[00:00:12] uh I picked my old 1930s uh Wayne 60
[00:00:15] here to start with. So, what we’re going
[00:00:18] to do today is we’re going to start the
[00:00:19] disassembly process. Now, the first
[00:00:22] thing you’re going to need is a whole
[00:00:24] lot of penetrating oil. Um, you know,
[00:00:26] this thing I dug this out of a farm out
[00:00:28] in Nebraska somewhere and uh it’s rusted
[00:00:32] and I assume everything is going to be
[00:00:36] uh pretty much rusted shut, rusted solid
[00:00:39] together. So, we’re going to need a lot
[00:00:41] of penetrating oil to try and loosen
[00:00:43] everything up. Now, I’ve had really good
[00:00:45] luck with this uh PB uh penetrating
[00:00:49] catalyst. Really good. I’ve also used a
[00:00:52] lot of liquid wrench. I came out here
[00:00:54] last night and as you can see I sprayed
[00:00:57] and let it soak
[00:00:59] overnight. Um, you can’t use too much of
[00:01:02] this
[00:01:02] stuff. It’s going to
[00:01:04] be it’s going to be your best friend.
[00:01:07] Now, one thing that I’ve always done in
[00:01:09] in the past when I’m working on a car or
[00:01:12] something like that and I have a a stuck
[00:01:15] bolt, I heat it up. Well, you can’t
[00:01:18] really do this because you don’t know if
[00:01:20] there’s any gas left in here. um you
[00:01:23] know those vapors they can stick around
[00:01:24] for a really long time. In fact, a
[00:01:27] friend of mine had an old gas tank, a
[00:01:29] barrel that had gas in it and it sat
[00:01:31] empty for you know 20 years and he had
[00:01:35] it vented and it was empty and he
[00:01:38] decided he was going to cut it in half,
[00:01:40] took a cutting torch to it and the thing
[00:01:42] blew up, knocked his teeth out and that
[00:01:44] was after sitting for, like I said,
[00:01:46] years and years. So, um I definitely
[00:01:49] don’t recommend putting heat on this.
[00:01:51] So, a couple of things that we are going
[00:01:52] to
[00:01:53] need. The first thing you’re going to
[00:01:55] want to buy uh uh from us, this the only
[00:01:58] specialty tool you’re going to need for
[00:02:00] the whole disassembly process, and it’s
[00:02:02] this uh this nut remover just for the
[00:02:05] Wayne 60. Now, you could take a flaad
[00:02:10] screwdriver and pound on this nut to get
[00:02:14] it loose, but you’re probably going to
[00:02:15] ruin this nut. And these nuts cost more
[00:02:19] than this little than this little
[00:02:21] specialty tool does. So that’s the first
[00:02:23] thing you’re going to want uh is to use
[00:02:26] this. I’m going to put it on a on a uh a
[00:02:29] flat bar here, a big bar. Now, if it
[00:02:32] doesn’t work, you can always add a pipe
[00:02:35] to this to get a lot of leverage. But
[00:02:38] the first thing you want to take off is
[00:02:41] this nut.
[00:02:46] There it goes. There it
[00:02:50] [Music]
[00:02:52] goes. Now, be careful once this nut is
[00:02:54] loose. You know, this this is solid
[00:02:57] glass here, so we don’t want to drop
[00:03:04] that. Okay. Now that we’ve got that off,
[00:03:07] we’re going to set it aside. We’re going
[00:03:08] to take the back side off.
[00:03:18] Okay, now that the uh the front and the
[00:03:20] back globes are off, the next thing
[00:03:22] we’re going to want to do is take the
[00:03:24] top off. And again, um you’ll get you a
[00:03:27] real thick flathead screwdriver to pull
[00:03:31] these nuts off. Now, these nuts on mine,
[00:03:34] they’re brass, so they’re going to be
[00:03:36] really soft. Uh, so you want to be
[00:03:39] careful. You know, you don’t want to
[00:03:40] just stick in there and hit it with a
[00:03:43] hammer if you don’t have to. But you may
[00:03:46] uh you may have to ruin them to get them
[00:03:47] off of there. But there’s uh six on
[00:03:50] this, you know, two on the front, two on
[00:03:53] the back, and then there’s two up at the
[00:03:54] top. So uh take these off, and then
[00:03:58] we’ll take this top part off right here.
[00:04:11] Well, I broke two of the screws taking
[00:04:13] it off. Sometimes that’s just the way it
[00:04:15] goes. But I got the screws out. The ones
[00:04:19] that I broke, uh, obviously the heads
[00:04:21] came off, so I can remove this top
[00:04:23] easily. Now, what you’re going to do is
[00:04:26] you’re going to pull this. You’re going
[00:04:27] to bend it out a little
[00:04:29] bit. Might need to use a flathead on it.
[00:04:33] We want to get it out
[00:04:36] [Music]
[00:04:38] over the uh this threaded part here on
[00:04:44] one end.
[00:05:08] And you’re going to have to put some
[00:05:10] downward pressure on it to pull it down
[00:05:13] and out. Once you get it loose, you can
[00:05:17] get it up to that point. Now you do the
[00:05:19] same on the back side.
[00:05:25] Okay, now that you have it on the back
[00:05:27] side
[00:05:30] done, you’re going to bend it a little.
[00:05:32] Put a little pressure to get it over the
[00:05:34] top of this
[00:05:38] propeller. And then it’s going to
[00:05:40] come right off.
[00:05:48] Now, there are gaskets or they’re
[00:05:51] supposed to be gaskets in here. Here’s
[00:05:53] one on the back
[00:05:55] side. These gaskets sit right over top.
[00:05:59] You know, they’re they’re probably going
[00:06:01] to be pretty much useless, but we do uh
[00:06:03] manufacture these, so you can get them.
[00:06:05] Uh, as you can see, this one’s kind of
[00:06:08] just stuck on here, so we’ll have to
[00:06:10] scrape that off, but we’ll mess with
[00:06:11] that later.
[00:06:13] The next thing we’re going to want to do
[00:06:16] is take these four screws out. We’re
[00:06:19] going to take these fronts off. So
[00:06:21] again, penetrating oil and lots of it.
[00:06:24] Let it soak and then we can start taking
[00:06:26] these off.
[00:06:47] Okay. Now, what I like to do is when I
[00:06:49] take something out, take some parts off,
[00:06:52] I like to put the screws back exactly
[00:06:54] where they were. That way, I don’t have
[00:06:56] a box of screws or, you know, a pile of
[00:06:58] screws just sitting around
[00:07:05] somewhere. Okay. Now, we’re going to
[00:07:07] take the same panel off of the back
[00:07:09] side.
[00:07:15] Okay, there’s the back
[00:07:21] panel. Go ahead and put my screws back
[00:07:23] in
[00:07:26] here. Well, that’s the end of the first
[00:07:28] part of our four-part series on the
[00:07:30] disassembly of your Wayne 60. Now, our
[00:07:33] next video is only a couple of minutes
[00:07:35] long, and it covers the removal of those
[00:07:37] top sides of the pump, as well as some
[00:07:40] of the piping coming out of the manifold
[00:07:42] and those top
[00:07:43] rings. Now, as you’re working, if you
[00:07:46] don’t have a copy of our catalog here, I
[00:07:48] highly recommend you drop us a line and
[00:07:50] get one. It’s absolutely free. And as
[00:07:53] you start pulling your pump apart, you
[00:07:55] can see what parts you’re going to need
[00:07:57] to replace. and you can circle them or,
[00:08:00] you know, you can just highlight them
[00:08:01] like I do. Uh, that way you’re going to
[00:08:04] have an ongoing tab of the parts that
[00:08:06] you need. So, when you put your order
[00:08:08] in, it’s all there for you. I’ll tell
[00:08:10] you, there’s nothing worse than putting
[00:08:11] your pump back together and realizing
[00:08:14] that you’re missing a part. The last
[00:08:16] thing, if you look in our catalog and
[00:08:18] then you see that uh there isn’t a part
[00:08:21] in there that you need, don’t panic.
[00:08:23] Just give us a call. there’s a pretty
[00:08:25] good chance that we have that part and
[00:08:27] it’s just not in the catalog yet. Uh
[00:08:29] we’re in the process of redoing our
[00:08:31] catalog and when it’s done, you’re going
[00:08:33] to see that we’ve gone from our old
[00:08:35] 120page catalog to 180 page catalog.
[00:08:38] That’s how many more parts we have
[00:08:40] available. Also, while you’re
[00:08:43] disassembling your pump, if you run into
[00:08:45] any snags, feel free to give us a call
[00:08:48] at
[00:08:51] 4025921710. You can drop us an email at
[00:08:55] diangpumpheaven.com. Also, there’s
[00:08:57] another easy way to reach us and it’s on
[00:08:58] our Facebook page which is at
[00:09:03] facebook.com/gpumpheaven. There’s no
[00:09:04] spaces in between there. You can also
[00:09:06] link to our Facebook from our website
[00:09:08] which is at
[00:09:10] gaspumpheaven.com. Now, when you get to
[00:09:12] your Facebook page, make sure that you
[00:09:14] like
[00:09:16] us. Then, when you’re on our page, go to
[00:09:20] where it says write something. type out
[00:09:22] your
[00:09:26] question and we’re going to get back to

[00:09:31] for today, guys. Thanks for
[00:09:36] [Music]
[00:09:40] watching. Take my
[00:09:43] GoPro, Mom. Take my GoPro away.
