Disassembly of a 1930s Wayne 60 Gas Pump- Part 4

Video Transcript:

[00:00:04] okay as you can see we’re in the home
[00:00:06] stretch for the disassembly it’s time to
[00:00:08] start taking all this apart so I’m going
[00:00:10] to swing this
[00:00:14] around so you can see what we’re doing
[00:00:17] and uh we’ll start taking this unit out
[00:00:31] okay the last thing we’re going to need
[00:00:33] to do here is we have this Long Rod that
[00:00:38] hooks in this the onoff switch for the
[00:00:40] electrical motor uh and there’s a cotter
[00:00:42] pin in there we’re going to want to take
[00:00:44] that cotter pin uh out uh so this can
[00:00:48] run free and then we’re going to try and
[00:00:49] take this motor assembly out
[00:01:10] go that rods
[00:01:19] loose now if you’ve got a a bottle
[00:01:25] jack let’s go ahead and set a bottle
[00:01:27] jack in
[00:01:37] okay what we’re doing
[00:01:39] is we’re trying to lift this up a little
[00:01:42] bit we’re going to see if we can tilt it
[00:01:46] back and forth and wiggle it sideways so
[00:01:48] it’ll all come
[00:01:53] out well I had to move on to plan B here
[00:01:55] because I couldn’t get the uh that that
[00:01:58] mounting plate to twist around enough to
[00:02:01] get that uh motor freed up so what I did
[00:02:04] is I laid this down on its side now
[00:02:06] there’s two bolts right right behind
[00:02:09] here on either side and that’s what’s
[00:02:11] holding this whole side panel in and it
[00:02:13] was going to have to come out sooner or
[00:02:14] later so I’m going to take uh got a
[00:02:17] couple out on this side this side and
[00:02:19] then on this side and it’s going to free
[00:02:21] this whole side up so I can just pop
[00:02:24] that motor out, the last thing we’re going to want to
[00:03:16] do start getting that penetrating
[00:03:20] oil on all these screw heads that are
[00:03:23] holding on these side panels
[00:03:30] then we’re also going to want to throw a
[00:03:31] little bit for all these cotter
[00:03:36] pins that we’re going to have to take
[00:03:41] out and while these uh screws soak let’s
[00:03:45] start taking these keys out now these
[00:03:47] take the cotter pin out first okay
[00:04:02] okay and then you have that back that
[00:04:03] just fell then you have a
[00:04:06] spring you have a spring then you have
[00:04:09] another back and then this key just pops
[00:04:12] right out so back a
[00:04:16] spring and then your other
[00:04:18] back and then your key fits right in
[00:04:22] there and that’s what holds this all
[00:04:23] together let’s take all those out now
[00:04:26] these screws here are rusted out really
[00:04:28] good and I’m not having any luck getting
[00:04:31] them uh loosened up now the manifold and
[00:04:36] the pump and all that stuff I’m I’m
[00:04:37] going to move it away here and then I’m
[00:04:39] going to put a little bit of heat to these
[00:04:46] screws cuz there’s not a lot of danger
[00:04:48] of of this Catching Fire just because
[00:04:50] it’s away from where the gas used to be
[00:05:06] I may just have to grin these out I don’t know
[00:05:40] jeez there we
[00:05:49] go well the only thing left to do now is
[00:05:52] to uh go to the other side remove the
[00:05:56] railings um from the side panel and then
[00:05:59] of course we have to remove these
[00:06:01] railings from the base and that’s it for
[00:06:03] disassembly now in our next video we’re
[00:06:06] going to start going through and we’re
[00:06:07] going to look at each and every panel
[00:06:09] we’re going to talk about whether we’re
[00:06:10] going to keep it or we’re going to fix
[00:06:12] it or if it’s uh fixable at all uh and
[00:06:16] if we’re going to have to replace it by
[00:06:18] using a a remanufactured
[00:06:20] part now uh if you guys have any snags
[00:06:23] along the way give us a call we’re happy
